Come for a walk with us – and Zona the Dog – in our little village of Playa Potrero:

IMG_1972

This is the main street – the ONLY way in and out of Potrero, unless you walk the beach.

IMG_1971

Let’s head to the soccer field…Zona LOVES to play “catch the ball”.

IMG_1944

How about a pop fly??

IMG_1946

The beach is beckoning.

IMG_1953

“Go get the ball, Zona!”

IMG_1961

“MORE PLEASE!”

IMG_1966

“Game over, Zona. Time to go back.”

IMG_1972

Back along the main road…time to hit the pool, cool off.

IMG_1973

Walking up our road, turning back towards the main road…that is Super Ceymi, one of the main grocery stores we frequent.

IMG_1975

Turn forward…the blue building is the local school. We don’t know the particulars, but it seems that there are various age/class groups – young children earlier in the day (7a.m.) and older ones later on (staying as late as 6p.m.). Every age group has a different coloured uniform consisting of a lighter-coloured button-up top paired with darker-coloured bottoms – pants or skirts.

IMG_1976

Turn past the school, and we continue on…

IMG_1977

We try to walk in the shade whenever we can.

IMG_1835

Our complex is in a secluded, very rural area. These are our neighbours. They try to escape the fence whenever they can. It’s quite comical watching their owner round them up on his dirt bike.

IMG_1978

Come on in!

IMG_1979

Walk through the locked gates, and we’re greeted by the back side of the Rancho – a common living area with a restaurant-equipped kitchen. We think the kitchen is workable, but no one has used it since we’ve been here.

The building facing us is the first of two complexes in our compound. This building houses two 2-bedroom apartments.

IMG_1980

Turn the corner, and voila. Lush and green awaits! And that is our building.

IMG_1983

Our apartment is the one on the bottom right. This building houses 4 one-bedroom suites.

IMG_1988

Come have a seat while we bring you an ice-cold cerveza or a fruit smoothie.

IMG_1989

Inside: this is our kitchen. Small, compact, yet as functional as we need it to be.

IMG_1990

And yes, teeny tiny fridge. But enough room for a small tub of helado.

IMG_1991

Bathroom – again, tiny yet functional.

IMG_1992

Bedroom: we tend to keep the curtains closed as the room can stay quite cool during the day with just the fan going. Nice when we need a breather from the hottest mid-day temps.

But let’s head back to the pool.

IMG_1984

Zona’s ready for a swim.

The building is the common area, the Rancho.

IMG_1982

Here’s the pool looking from the Rancho. And yes! That’s Zona in the cool-water jacuzzi. Best way to cool down.

Ahhhhhh…..nice place to spend some time…..

One last pic: sunset, back at the beach.
